About Restaurant Insurance Authority & Our Editorial Policy
Restaurant Insurance Authority is an independent resource for insuring restaurants, bars, food trucks, and other food-and-beverage businesses. This page explains who we are, how we produce our content, and how we are paid.
Effective .
What we do
Restaurant Insurance Authority helps food-and-beverage owners understand what commercial insurance they need, what it costs, and what their state requires — then connects them with a licensed independent commercial-lines agent who specializes in hospitality. We are not an insurer and we are not an agency.
How we research and review
Commercial insurance is a "your money or your life" topic, so we hold our content to a sourcing standard. Cost figures are attributed to named industry sources with the date we retrieved them, and we distinguish primary sources (statutes, regulators, official filings) from industry estimates on the page itself.
Content is reviewed by a licensed commercial-lines insurance agent before publication. Where sources conflict on a legal point — such as which states have dram shop laws — we resolve it against the underlying authority or withhold the claim.
How we make money
Restaurant Insurance Authority is compensated when we refer a business owner to a licensed agent partner and, in some cases, when a policy is ultimately placed. That compensation never changes what we tell you, and we do not take payment to feature a particular carrier. See our Advertiser Disclosure for detail.
